This battery kit is solely designed for backup use. For certain carriage door opener models, the system runs entirely off the transformer input. When that input is absent, the gate opener switches over to the battery backup for approximately 6 to 10 cycles. The incoming power charges the batteries between cycles. The two batteries (12 volts, 5.0 amp-hour) in this kit must be used in series. The brand name may vary.
